About Watercolor Socials

I have always painted as a way to keep up my own sense of craft and connection to creativity. I see painting as a meditative practice and therefore will be sharing my calm and experience as we make something with less anxiety. The facilitation I lead is relaxing, social and creative.
I provide light refreshments, and attendees should feel free to bring a bottle or two of any wine or beverage preference that you and your buds will like. Please invite your friends and make it a fun outing! Perfect for unwinding from the day/week/weekend!

Art Socials take place in the artist’s studio, Blank Page Studio in Oakland, CA: 1468 MacArthur Blvd.

Upcoming Watercolor Socials

Sunday, March 25, 2-5:00pm

This watercolor social will be focused on color hues, values, and brush techniques. We will be painting a pair of tropical leaf shapes to both learn techniques and to create a beautiful painting for yourself or as a gift. These watercolor socials are open to all experience levels and are especially helpful to newbies. Each participant starts with pre-masked paper that has our design already outlined. We will paint during our time together learning how to relax into a creative state of play and experimentation. All materials and refreshments included! If you have any questions, please email me at maryjeys [at] gmail [dot] com.

Past Watercolor Socials

Sunday, February 25, 2-5:00pm

We painted a series of crystal shapes to both learn techniques and to let the crystal healing grow in our minds.

Thursday, August 17, 7-10:30pm

We painted a weedy seadragon from a found photo. Weedy Seadragons are one of my favorite things at the aquariums I’ve visited. They’re so funny to me.

Sunday, August 20, 3-6:30pm

We painted a dragon I designed. This dragon in my painting is very cute- but he still breathes fire, so don’t be fooled! Get ready for your Sunday night TV shows by painting your very own flying pyro-reptile!

Thursday July 27, at 7pm-10:30pm

We painted a mountain range from a found photo of Jasper National Park in Alberta, Canada.

Sunday, August 6, 3-6:30pm

We painted a seascape from a found photo of Channel Islands National park, California.
